After one hundred years, the Rinella Canon is fired again
The Minister for Tourism Francis Zammit Dimech fired the Rinella Cannon in front of a crowd of 300 people. This event took place a hundred years after the last time that the Rinella cannon was fired.
The canon at Fort Rinella was the first steam-driven mechanical cannon. It had been designed to fire every six minutes for four hours, with all the loading process done mechanically.
