The end of HMS Hibernia

On 14 October 1902, HMS Hibernia was sold by auction for the sum of £1,010. Since 1855, it had been docked near Fort St Angelo, serving as temporary barracks for the crew of the ships that were being repaired in the Dockyard.

For many years, the Hibernia figurehead was placed at the entrance of Fort St Angelo and today it is exhibited at the Maritime Museum in Birgu.
