In 1942, after the continuous bombings from the air by the Axis forces, Malta was on the verge of surrendering. Very few supplies were arriving and morale was really low. The arrival of the SS Ohio on August 15 brought with it more provisions and boosted the morale to continue the fight against the enemy.
