The attack on Fort St Michael

This day saw a coordinated attack by the Turks on Fort St Michael in Isla and on the Post of Castile in Birgu.

The attack lasted about nine hours and was thought to be the last assault by which the Turks would win the Siege. In fact, everyone was called for the attack except the wounded.

The attack stopped when the Turkish camp inside Marsa was assailed by the Cavalry that came down from Mdina and the Turks retreated because they thought help had arrived from Sicily.
